Breaking Temperature BarriersRecent discovery at LMI Custom Mixing as joined together LMI and Lauren Manufacturing to offer material solutions that go above and beyond the expectations. For the lighting industries requirements finished seal are required to encompass properties, including high heat resistance of 175°C and anti-aging characteristics. LMI’s discovery allowed the tested material to retain its physical properties and compression set after exposure to heat of 175°C. The results showed that heat aging can be improved and interpreted as “passing”, ASTM D-2000 Heat Age requirements, at 175°C.

Expanding Capabilities: Splicing Dense PolymersLauren Manufacturing’s R&D department along with the mechanical and process engineering department have been able to add dense splicing to the library of capabilities. This new process can splice dense and sponge material into frames and o-rings using a thermoplastic fusion bond, creating a clean splice that is strong and flexible.
